(Review) Loreal Paris Color Protect Protecting Conditioner (The worst conditioner ever)

I know I haven’t been updating and stuff, and I’m really sorry! But I’m having my mids right now so yeah, no time.

But anyways, here’s a quick review on the WORST CONDTIONER I’ve ever used.

The only reason why I chose the Color protect conditioner was because I’d figured it would be the same as the conditioner they’d given with the Casting Crème hair dyes.

I was soooooooooooooo wrong!

(Review) Neutrogena Norwegian Formula LipBalm

Winter = Dryness = Chapped Lips

I love winter, but with winter there comes the need for extra protection of our skin.

After noticing that my lips were getting chapped and painful, I decided to buy a lip balm. I wanted to buy a LipIce lip balm but unfortunately, it’s not available where I stay. And I didn’t want a Nivea lip balm even though they’re pretty popular as I find them really greasy and heavy on my lips.

As I was going through the rack, my eyes fell on the Neutrogena lip balm, or rather, the ‘Made in Korea’ sign. And, being the Korean freak that I am, immediately bought it. It’s a love hate relationship for me. *sigh*

(Review) The Lakme Eyeconic Curling Mascara

I’m probably the only Indian Blogger who has not reviewed the Lakme Eyeconic Mascara! Lol!
So, after reading countless number of reviews of this mascara, I decided to give it a try.

It was hate at first try.
Literally.

When I first got it, it was so, so, SO darn watery, it clumped my lashes and it was like Welcome to Clumpville or Say hello to the Tarantula look.

(Review) The Nivea Light Feeling Daily Face Sun Fluid with SPF 50

I’d like to introduce you to the new love of my life – The Nivea Sunscreen. Yeah, sure they say Face Fluid blah, blah, blah on the cover but it’s just a fancier word for sunscreen.

I have never used a sunscreen all the sixteen years I’ve walked this earth and I’ve had enough damage done to my skin to last me a lifetime. So this time, when they announced our sports meet I knew that it was gonna be one hectic month in the sun. So to save my poor skin I decided to buy this. Plus I got a facewash worth 99 INR free! :D

K-Drama: The Heirs Episode One

The Heirs Episode One

I’m not much of a Korean Drama fan (I’m more of a K-pop gal) but I’m getting hooked! After seeing all the hype over The Heirs, I finally decided to check it out. My expectations of the drama were quite high because of all the hype surrounding it and Lee Min Ho, who happens to be oh so totally gorgeous! I just love his look in City Hunter! He’s like this bad ass hunky dude! He’s just so yummy! He’s –

A rant against romance

As a teen I loved… LOVED Mills and Boons. All that romance, passion, love and of course, for the more hormonal side of me – Coitus, as Sheldon Cooper refers to it. Recently, one of my friends dropped off a whole bag of Mills and Boons and as I sat reading all of them I couldn’t help but notice how alike all of them were. So I took a pen and a book and vented out my frustration. And I will rewrite my musings for you.

Meet the Queen of Teen: Cathy Cassidy

*** I think I owe Cathy a huge apology for posting this so late. I think it’s been on my desktop for more than two weeks! #I’mahorribleperson ***

“Cathy Cassidy is AWESOME!”
-Anya, 16

What makes Cathy Cassidy a favourite among thousands of girls all over the world? Well, the list is long. It perhaps starts with how amazing a writer Cathy is. Grab any book of hers (my favourite being Driftwood, Angel Cake and Scarlett) and she’s sure to make you laugh, cry and go “Aww…”

(Review) The Loreal Paris Liss Ultime Hair Serum

Before I start this post I’d like to say a quick prayer of gratitude to the Lord Almighty for giving people the brains required to make this miracle!

This is like one of the best hair serums I’ve ever used! I actually bought two bottles of the serum – one a 50ml and the other 125ml. And the worst part? Both were for the same cost! #Ifeelsorippedoff

(Review ) Street Wear Stay on Mineral Eyeshadow in Vivacious

“People tell me I’m lively, bouncy, full of spirit… So I guess that means I’m Vivacious, right?”

As hard as it is for to say this, I think I’ll feel better if I say it...

*takes a deep breath*

I don’t know how to choose the right colors for my skin tone.

Summer Haven (For your lips) - The LipIce lip balm in Lemon

I’m so sorry for not updating! MY journalist friend broke his camera so he needed mine and I ended up with no cam to take photos! Sigh! But now that I have it back, let the updates begin! Well not really… You see, my quarterly exams are going to start soon so… But I swear I’ll update whenever I can!
I’ve been wanting to buy this lip balm for donkey’s years, literally (No, not really!), before finally getting the opportunity to do so in Hyderabad. LipIce is unfortunately not available in Vizag so I have to order it online which I’m just too lazy to do.

(Review) Marcel Marongiu in Raspberry

I think it’s become a tradition for mom to gift me Oriflame lip glosses
for my birthday but hey! Who’s complaining? Not me, that’s for sure!
This time mom bought a Marcel Marongiu (whoever he is) lip-gloss in raspberry.

Read on to see how it scores on Unhealthy Obsessions.

Ayo beautiful ladies! Ya’ll look lovely today! Remember – you’re precious, you’re beautiful and God loves you. ^_^

DIY Mouthwash Which Actually Works

I honestly thought DIY stuff, especially in beauty, stopped at scrubs and face peels, so imagine my surprise when I found a recipe for DIY mouthwash…. And the best part? It actually works! It’s as good as my Listerine except for the fact that my mouth doesn’t burn.

(Review) L'Oreal Paris Total Repair Five Shampoo + Conditioner

Buying the L'Oreal Paris Total Repair Five counts as one of the worst mistakes of my entire life.  I hate it! HATE it! And to top it all, I bought a huge, huge bottle of it and I’m wondering what to do now since I can’t throw it away.
To sum it up in a nutshell, this sucks big time. I’m so, so, so disappointed with L'Oreal!

What the product claims:
The 1st Total Repair for damaged hair with Ceramide cement that fights five hair problem- Hair fall, dryness, roughness, Dullness and Splits Ends. This technology replicates the hair’s natural cement. It helps repair and strengthen the hair’s fibre and smoothen its surface.
Damaged hair loses its cement that keeps it strong and healthy. L’Oreal laboratories have developed a repairing formula with Ceramide Cement that works similarly to natural ceramide that fills the cracks, seal the scales and the hair is repaired.
PROVEN RESULTS: Day after day, combat the 5 signs of damaged hair with 1 solution for hair to become:
1. Stronger ; 2. Nourished; 3. Shinier; 4. Smoother ; 5.Less Split-ends

TOTAL REPAIR 5 : 5 PROBLEMS= 1 SOLUTION.

L'Oreal Paris Total Repair Five Shampoo… Does it work?

These are the five problems the shampoo promised to work on. As you can see only the hair fall part of it worked. I don’t have split ends though so no comments on that.

ü hairfall
      X dryness
       X dullness
ü roughness
      split ends (no comment)

L’oreal paris conditioner:

   ü Hairfall
   ü Roughness
  X Dryness
  X Dulness
     Splitends (no comments)

Packaging:

I like the packaging. Red, white and gold. It’s a very royal color combination.

Texture/ Smell:

The shampoo’s texture is neither too thick nor too thin. Just right. Sam goes for the conditioner. However, the conditioner stink. It smells of cement (due to the ceramide cement) mixed with floral but luckily only the floral smell stays on my hair. The shampoo has a sort-of floral – fruity smell. It may be a little over powering for those with a sensitive nose.

Price:

Shampoo – 135INR (180 ml)
Conditioner-150INR (180 ml)

My experience:

My hair is very moody. I have dry hair yet my scalp is oily and no split ends (thank God) and my hair is dull with the softness of it varying.
The Total Repair Five shampoo dried up my hair so bad it’s like an afro. Literally. But my hair has become considerably soft but the dryness ruins it all. Dullness wise, I feel my hair has become duller than before. The hair fall control is not as good as the L'Oreal Paris Hair Fall Control products but at least my hair doesn’t fall as much as it used to before.

     Pros:
     Reduces hairfall
     Softens hair

Cons:
The other three claims don’t work

Verdict: All in all I don’t think I’d ever buy this product again.

Rating: 1/2/♥♥♥♥

Ps – What do you think about the total repair five?

Cheers!
Serena xx

DISCLAIMER – This product was bought with my own money and I have given my honest opinion about it. I am in no way associated with L’Oreal. Also, please remember that what works for me might not work for you.

DIY Face Peel For Hypersensitive Skin

I think my hypersensitive skin is the bane of my life. I have a tough time finding stuff which actually suits my face. Lemons or anything citrus for that matter of fact don’t work. Luckily honey does and I praise God for that.

Also, being a student, I have a limited budget which means I’m always on the search for DIY recipes which don’t mess with my skin or my money. I’m very stingy you see.

So now, I proudly present to you a DIY face peel which won’t mess with your skin even if your skin is hypersensitive and it goes easy on your pocket. Real easy.

Ingredients required:
One egg white

Tissue paper (It should be thin)

Procedure:
Once you separate the egg yolk and the egg white, make scrambled egg with the yolk so that it doesn't get spoiled.

Rub the egg white all around your face and then place the tissue on your face. I used a toilet roll and then separated the two papers. If you are patient you can cut out holes for you eyes, nostrils and lips or if you’re like me, just stick it on and tear away the extra paper. Also, try not to do this is front of kids because I assure you; you’ll look like an extra from the movie The Mummy Returns.

Now, rub egg white all over the tissue to keep it in place and fifteen minutes later or when dry (It’ll be stiff) just peel it off like you would a normal peel.

Results:
Face doesn’t break out into pimples.
 Your tan disappears partially.
 Your face is instantly bright.
Dark spots fade, hyper pigmentation fades and blackheads are removed.

Warning – Do not try and smell the egg whites. Under no circumstances, however much you are tempted, do not, I repeat, do not smell. I hope you guys have better control over your temptations, unlike me.

And that’s all for today folks!
Cheers,
Serena xx

DISCLAIMER: Even hypersensitive skins vary from person to person, so what may suit me may not suit you. So proceed at your own risk! J

Sumrit Shahi - Just Friends Review

Sumrit Shahi has a way with words. I just wish it were a little less sexual. I actually have a theory on why some Indian authors have a crude way of writing various scenes but it’s big, so I’ll save it for another post. Till then, let’s see what Just Friends is about and how it scores on Unhealthy Obsessions.

Let’s start with the positive points in this book. Sumrit has an amazing imagination and like I said has a way with words. I like his vocabulary too. It’s helped me expand my own vocabulary and that’s saying something. He has captured every aspect of teenage life in Just Friends and I find it very realistic. The way he tells the story of the two protagonists is fantastic. Also, I like the way he weaves the two stories together and makes it one.

However, on the down side, I find this book full of sexual innuendos. I wish he’d written it in a little more decent way but then I guess we wouldn’t have a book since out of the 248 pages, about 200 of them are crap. Sigh! I find it a big turn off when people sell a romance book which is more like porn.

The storyline:

The first story is about how a boy (Aryan) and a girl (Ishita) fall in love and how the boy’s best friend (Boza), who is a girl, falls in love with him. Ishita, after spending a day with Aryan, who, had unintentionally got them suspended form the MUN (Mock UN), decides that she can’t be in love with him because her parents, who were high school sweeties, were divorced and she didn’t want that happening to he. Plus, she lived in Singapore.

Aryan goes all depressed and detached, ignoring his friends and everyone just so that he could go to Singapore on a student exchange and meet her. In the meantime, Boza and Aryan almost kiss before they have a fight with lots of slapping and this is where Boza calls Aryan names on the lines of branding him as a womanizer. However, Boza still cares for Aryan and helps him out wherever she can but he never reciprocates. He finally manages to go to Singapore but realizes that he doesn’t love Ishita and that he loves Boza. So, even though his dream of going to Singapore had come true, he doesn’t meet Ishita. He just sits there, waiting for the trip to get over so that he can see Boza, who’s admitted in the ICU.

The second story, is about Tanie, Sumer and their respective partners – Rehaan and Liaka. Tanie loves Rehaan with all her might and does everything for him. Sumer’s long distance relationship with Liaka is taking a toll on him. He and Tanie are best friends. Like literally! They didn’t have that instant connection and no one would even expect them to have because the first time they meet, though technically it’s not a meeting, he picks up her up. The second time, he’s listening to loud music and dancing in his boxers when Tanie barges in on him. Embarrassing!

Anyways, they finally connect, spend all their time together and have fun, talking and laughing about stuff only teenagers can think about. Then comes the fateful day when Sumer finds out that Tanie’s boyfriend is cheating on her. Tanie doesn’t believe him, they fight and a few days later Taine finds out that Sumer was right. She goes to him sobbing and he consoles her. They kiss and Tanie, who still hasn’t gotten over Rehaan, runs away.

How are these two stories connected?

The two stories are connected by the MUN, A book and a delayed flight. Tanie and Aryan meet at the airport in Singapore, where Aryan had come for the student exchange and Tanie for the MUN. They share their stories and it is then that Tanie realizes that she likes Sumer.

All in all I think the book could be made a little less fancy, or rather the words can be made a little less fancy. It becomes painful when you have to try and guess the meaning of the words. If Sumrit (the author) would refine his writing and make it more meaningful than just sexual innuendos, he can go to a bigger publisher like Penguin, Harper Collins etc.

All in all I would rate this book
♥♥1/2 / ♥♥♥♥

Cheers!
Serena

(Review) Loreal Paris 3X Anti hair fall Conditioner

I’ve heard a lot about the L’OREAL Paris Fall Repair 3x Shampoo and conditioner and decided to try out the conditioner. I decided against the Shampoo since very few shampoos suit my hair and I didn’t want to take any risks. I like this conditioner…. It actually works! My hair fall has reduced drastically after using this.

Maybelline Water Shine Lip Gloss Review

I’m a huge fan of lip glosses. Especially those which smell yummy (yes, I’m a foodie). I decided to try the Maybelline Water Shine lip glosses only because there was a ten percent discount and because if I bought two, I’d get one free. I bought the Naked Brown, Chocolate Glitters and Caramel pearl. I was actually gonna buy the amethyst shade instead of the chocolate glitters stuff, but due to the lights (DAMN YOU YELLOW LIGHTS!) I ended up buying the wrong shade. I couldn’t even fine that label which tells you which color was which on the bottle so I was pretty much clueless.
